Hernando Police Department's Communications Division

& Civilian Employees

The Communications Division currently has 8 Operators.  Communications personnel are required to answer emergency calls, dispatch emergency services including Police, Fire and EMS.  Each operator is required to complete several courses in order to become a Certified Emergency Operator.  Some of those classes include:

*  Emergency Operator Certification through Mississippi Standards & Training

*  Emergency Medical Dispatch, Advanced Emergency Medical Dispatch

* Conduct eight hour ride along with Police, Fire and EMS

Our Communications Center is responsible for answering all calls where the police, fire or ems are to be dispatched to a location.  Whether it be on the administrative line or on our E-911 system, you will talk to a trained communications officer to handle your call.  The following links are just some general information and items that can be filled out to better serve our community.  Please feel free to glance through.
